Moving Made Easier with Totes My Goat Moving Totes

Moving can be hard work and very stressful. We want to help you prepare and make your move easier. Being prepared before your moving day arrives can reduce your stress. It will also make the work much easier to manage.

Obviously our most important tip would be to go ahead and schedule your rental with us. You can do that here! Now that you have made your move 1000% easier, let’s get down to some tips.

Five basic tips for preparing for your move…

1.  First and foremost – Declutter! My advice is to make three piles – Keep, Donate/Sell and Trash. Obviously your keep will need to go into Totes to be moved to your new home. The donate and sell pile can be taken out for a yard sale, or listed on Facebook Marketplace. Once you are done selling, or if you are going straight to donating, just donate the rest to the charity of your choice. Trash or recycle items that are not worth donating or selling.

2. Keep Essentials Separate! Medications, glasses or contacts, chargers, toiletries like your toothbrushes, special stuffed animals that the kids need, important documents or wallets, or just a change of clothes. These items will probably be needed first. They should be put in special place to be found easily. For this, we include an “Essentials” Tote for each person in your family when you book a Home Package with us.

3. Color code the totes! We have a special spot on our totes where you can put our color coded labels. Prepare for your move by picking a color for each room. Then make sure those labels are put on their coordinating totes. When it comes time to unload the totes at your new home, that color goes right into the room where it will be unpacked.

4.  Take a picture of the back of your TV. Sounds funny right? You will thank me when it comes time to set everything back up. Refer to your picture to make sure all of the wires are reconnected correctly.

5. Eat what you have on hand. Yes, you can move all of the items in your kitchen… but do you really want to? Especially if it involves needing coolers & ice? Make your life easier by eating what you have before your move. This will save you money on shopping, and make your life easier by meaning there is less to move in your kitchen.
