Ready to pack up your kitchen? This was probably the room I dreaded most. There were so many things to consider. Enjoy these tips to pack up your kitchen in five simple steps.
As with our first blog – Prepare For Moving Day – the very first step has to be Declutter. Start with a pile of things that you will not be taking with you. Maybe you don’t need the waffle maker, and can sell it on Facebook Marketplace. Or you just refuse to pack the thousands of grocery bags you have been saving. Whatever the case is… declutter whatever you don’t want or need.
Next – Stop buying groceries. “But we have to eat!” Of course. Eat what is in your home, so that you can reduce what you have. There are tools online that can take a list of your on-hand ingredients, and give you recipes. Get creative and have fun making something new or unique.
Our totes are great for moving heavier items like pots, pans, dishes and small appliances because they are extremely heavy duty. You will have no worries that they will break through the bottom of the box, as they can with cardboard boxes. Nesting them within each other saves a lot of space.
When loading up the totes, you can protect your pots, pans and dishes by using dish towels or washclothes between them. If you don’t have enough dish towels or washclothes, consider using your clean t-shirts or other clothing. This will save on packing paper and bubble wrap, and is more environmentally friendly.
For bottles or open containers that will be moved, open them, squeeze extra air out, place a piece of cellophane over the opening and then close tightly. This will help with reducing spills. Wrap your bottles containing any liquids in grocery or zipper bags to reduce any mess than might happen.
I hope these tips for packing your kitchen help make your upcoming move easier and more efficient.
